History: Learn about American civil rights history and see where the sit-in movement began at the International Civil Rights Center & Museum, relive the largest, most hotly contested battle of the Revolutionary War’s Southern Campaign at Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, learn about local history (including O.Henry) at the impressive Greensboro Historical Museum, and tour Blandwood Mansion, a 19th century Italian Villa. Experience the daily activities of a preserved 1766 Moravian town of Old Salem with four museums.

Shopping: Go two blocks to 125+ shops at Friendly Center (Macy's, Barnes & Noble, REI, Belk, Sears, Old Navy, Pier One, Gap, Banana Republic). Find great buys at an array of furniture stores in High Point (Furniture Capital of the World). Shop and tour the world's largest retailer of china, crystal, flatware and collectibles at Replacements, Ltd. Or go to one of oldest farmers markets in the country at the nearby Farmers' Curb Market. Four Seasons Town Centre has more than 200 stores.

Movies: Enjoy the thrill of the silver screen at top-notch theatres in Greensboro. The Grande 16, located a few blocks away from the hotel, offers stadium-style seating, state of the art surround sound and comfortable chairs in each of its 16 theatres. Wine: Tour wineries of the Yadkin Valley, using Proximity as your base. The nearby Yadkin Valley is designated as the first viticultural appellation in North Carolina.
